At Home Sick

I am trying to decide if I am going to work today. I stayed home yesterday, upper respiratory & maybe flu. I am still coughing alot, but do feel better than yesterday. Hubby came home yesterday with fever. He went to work this am, but coming home shortly, said he had to sign some paper work. He had a temp this am of 101. I work in the healthcare industry & there has been so many sick with the flu & upper respiratory, I think it is worse this year than I have ever seen. I hate to go to work & expose anyone else or relapse myself. Okay on to better things...

This is another composition notebook, I did this piece this past weekend. I love the ladies of this era so feminine. I even added a book mark to this piece. I think I am going to put it on etsy. I love this composition notebook as a canvas, so easy to work with.

Grand Opening Etsy Shop

I finally got a few things listed on my etsy site. What a pain!! It takes way too long. Anyway above are a few of the things I have listed. (Just in case you want to take a look see)! Also I have listed my etsy shop over in the left hand corner of the page. Let me know what you think? Do the prices look okay? I am offering free shipping for my grand opening items.
The 1st photo is a small journal that I collaged. I just love the little girl in the tea cup, she reminds me of my daughter when she was little (always smiling). This little journal is approx. 4x6 inches. You can see the details on etsy.
The second photo is a composition notebook that I collaged. It is approx. 8x10 inches, this would be a great gift for mother's day (I know it's alittle early, but planning ahead). Again you can see details on etsy.

Beeswax Collage (SOLD ON ETSY!)

I am so excited, I had an email this morning (Feb.26th) that someone has purchased this beeswax piece. WOW!

This is my first atempt with beeswax. I applied the wax on my collage with a soft brush & didn't like the end result at all. So never fear, I called the funky art queen to the rescue! I new she would know what to tell me to do to repair the mess I had made. So I got out my heat gun & held it close to the canvas until the wax melted again. Then I let it cool again. It now looks amazing, such a soft glow. This canvas is also one of my 6x6" wrap arounds. I love these little canvases.

Art Apron

My best friend the funky art queen (Les) has asked me to help her teach a class next weekend for ATC's @ the local HobbyLobby. So she decided that we must make aprons & decorate them as our alter-ego's. Mine of course is pocket full of prettys. So I worked on my apron last night & I think I am finally finished. Not sure if it needs something else or okay as is? Let me know what you think? Do I need to add something else to my apron?

We both got red aprons to decorate. Of course we both are going to follow our blog's name for the theme of our aprons. She has 4 people signed up so far to attend. Can't wait, it will be so much fun, & of course I'm sure Les will be in her "manic" mode. HaHa! Hope to post photos later. TGIF--hope you all have a great weekend!!

One World One Heart

Wanted to let you all know that I received my winning gift in the mail from Donna @ the decorated house. (left side bar has link). The prize is listed on Donna's site with photo's. (I would have taken a photo, but my battery on my camara is dead) I loved the bunny & Donna's husband's painting of the sunflower was amazing. So be sure to go & check it out!! Thanks Donna!

How great...2 Awards!!!

Oh my gosh!! I had a message from Jenn @ http://www.noodleandlou.blogspot.com/ that she gave me...not one award, but 2 awards!!! I went to her site & read February 19th & it sounded like the same things that I have been thinking. Why would anyone want to look @ my blog? Do I have anything to say? Do I have art work good enough? And I too feel like I have won an Oscar! The first award was "You make my day" award. The second award was "Art Blogger" award. I haven't been blogging very long, but I am now a blog-aholic. I can't wait to check everyday & see what others have been doing, saying or to see what terrific pieces they have been working on. I too will pass these awards on to others. I too have no idea who I will choose. But thank you Jenn, you truely did make my day, & I love your art work!

Collage of my Mother

This collage is special, it has a special meaning. The woman is my Mother, isn't she beautiful? When she & my Dad got married my Dad was in the Air Force. Shortly after they married my Dad got deployed to Japan & my Mom couldn't go. It was a remote tour & no spouse's were allowed. So my Mom told me that she wrote to my Dad everyday. I have seen some of the letters they wrote to each other & the blue envelope is exactly the same envelope that my Dad used when he sent a letter to my Mom. I love this storey about my parent's. They sent love letters to each other everyday. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 5th 2007.

Another Mixed Media Collage

(click photo to enlarge)
This is the project that I worked on yesterday. It is a 6x6" wrap around canvas. I placed torn papers on the sides. I am working on rusting some wire & nails so that I can add them to several of my collages. (I am also thinking I can attach some of the fabrics that I got in my art supply swap on the wire.) I used the solution mentioned in the magazine Cloth, Paper, Scissors to rust my wire pieces. The solution consist of bleach & vinegar. I set this solution filled plastic box outside because the smell is very strong. I recently ordered 6x6" canvases from http://www.misterart.com/ & I am very pleased with the canvas. They are much cheaper than buying them at your local craft store. I think the canvases were around $3.00 each. If the local craft store have them here they usually run around $10.00 each.
I have been thinking....that when I can sit down & take the time I am going to list some of my art work on etsy. What do you think? It has been a long time since I put anything on etsy. (not sure I even know my password) Yikes!!

One World Event

This is just a quick note, as I have to leave for the airport in a few minutes. I just found out it's not to late to join in on the http://oneworldevent.blogspot.com/ giveaway. I am going to giveaway the "Lucy" Valentine from the previous post. "Lucy" is a collage done on an 8x10 wrap around canvas. She has several 2 dimensional characteristics on the canvas. She would love to go home with you. Please leave a comment, comments excepted until Feb 13th @ midnight, cst. I will draw a winner & will notify the winner on the 14th of Feb.

Tried Something New

As you can see this is the Nov/Dec 2007 issue of Cloth,Paper,Scissors. I read the article "patch it together" on page 73. I have always loved Kelly Rae Roberts work, so I thought...okay follow directions for background & get busy. How hard could it be? Well as you can see my background is nothing like the photo in the magazine. I think my paint was too thick & dried too fast. But I did learn a few things for next time. And I will try again sometime. Anyway I think my "Lucy" still turned out okay. I made her into a valentine's day "Lucy". I started her sometime ago, got discouraged, put her away, finally today pulled her back out & finished her. But I am happy with the final result.

Wooden Blocks

I am so intrigued by faces, so I decided to put faces on these wooden blocks. These wooden blocks are fun to make...plus they make great little gifts. I have made several sets of blocks with different themes like: wedding, valentines, christmas, children with school objects, and friendship. This set of blocks have 2 types of faces on them which make them unique.

Collage Distress #2

I finally finished the second piece that belongs with the little children & the birds. However I did not show the sides of the last piece. This time I am including the sides which are covered with torn music pieces.

Thanks

I wanted to say thank you to everyone that has left comments on my blogsite. You all have been so encouraging. I have really enjoyed my blog. I was very intimidated to start one. But now that I have taken the leap I must say that I am having loads of fun. In fact I have found other sites that I would never have known about to visit. This is very addictive. I love seeing others art work & reading their blogs. Again thanks to you all!!!!

Collage Distressed

This is the final collage. I finished it late last night. This is very different than my usual collage work. The collage has been distressed & layered. I usually have to have every photo, every element in a straight line. This canvas is about 5x6", and I have another canvas the same size, so........I am going to work on the other canvas & make a similar collage.

Mixed Media Project

I am so excited. I started a new project tonight. I had several different thoughts running threw my head, so I gabbed a canvas & just went for it. It is more layered than what I usually do, but it is looking so cool. I am one of those people that has to have every line straight or even or else it drives me crazy....so with this new piece I have gone a little wild for me. I have actually torn my photo so that it would have rough edges (that just about did me in). But the end result was amazing. So far I love this piece. As soon as I am finished I will post it on this site. I hope everyone is enjoying their art as much as I am.

Better Blogging

Okay I finally got the pro over to my house to help me figure out this blogging stuff. Yeap you guessed...the funky art queen...Lesley came to my rescue once again. She is a whiz with this stuff!!! Kudo's to Les. Thanks for your help!!! Now maybe I will be able to navigate this site better & be a better blogger!

Collage Journal with young girl

Again this is one of my collage journals of children. I have had so much fun working on these. Doesn't she look so sweet & innocent?

Collage Journal

I recently have worked on several different journals. This one is about 4x6 inches. I used vintage look paper, acrylics, stamps, inks, & photos of adorable children. I was very excited & pleased with the way this journal turned out.

Collage Hearts

I love valentines, so I just had to make more goodies for the special day. I have collaged paper mache' hearts with bright fun colors & beautiful ladies.
